If Maybank is the issuer offers the most quantity of reward credit cards, RHB bank is no doubt the least.

There will be only two types of reward credit cards in RHB Bank lineup. Well, with one special edition for 2020 Tokyo Olympic (unfortunately it is forced to be postponed due to Pandemic)

It's not that RHB bank is weak in credit card game, but the product ratio of reward and cash back cards is 1:1.

Top Tier- RHB Visa Infinite

Benefits:

- 5x on overseas spending

- 1x on local spending

- Plaza Premium lounge access in Malaysia (first 1,000 cardholders per month)

- Travel insurance

- Golf privilege

- No annual fee

Eligibility:

Minimum annual income of 150,000 MYR

Low Tier- RHB Rewards Motion Code and Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition RHB Rewards cards

Despite different variations, they both offer the same multipliers, which is advertised as high as 10x.

Benefits:

- 10x on Cinema Entertainment spending

- 4x on overseas spending

- 3x on online spending

- 2x on health, insurance, shopping

- 1x on other spending

- Golf privilege

Eligibility:

Minimum Annual income of 24,000 MYR

Annual Fee: 200 MYR

First year waived

subsequent years with annual spend of 10,000 MYR for Tokyo 2020 Limited edition rewards and 20,000 MYR for Rewards Motion Code

However, Rewards Motion Code has a unique feature. An always changing CVV number behind the card.

It increases the protection against online fraud payment.

Maybe that's what make 200 MYR annual fee worth it?

Mileage Redemption

Unlike other credit card issuers, RHB Bank does not provide a better redemption for its top tier card, except Malaysia Airline's Enrich.

Malaysia Airlines Enrich 8:1 (Min 4,000 Points : 500 Miles) for Visa Infinite

11:1 (Min 5,500 Points : 500 Miles) for other cards

Singapore Airlines Krisflyer 12:1 (Min 6,000 Points : 500 Miles)

Airasia Big Points 6:1 (Min 6,000 Points : 1,000 Miles)

Final Thoughts

Is RHB Bank offers the weakest reward credit cards in the market?

For the low tier cards, it isn't. Although the mileage redemption rates do not deliver WOW effect to consumers, their multi-multipliers make redemption a lot more approachable. Adding online expenses, insurance and shopping into sections of multipliers increase the coverage of credit cards usage.

For the high tier card on the other hand, is definitely one of the weakest Visa Infinite card in the market. Besides no annual fee, the lower tier's cards offer a more dynamic points earning strategies.

For non annual fee Visa Infinite card, Hong Leong bank definitely stands out, with its earning rates towards Malaysia Airlines Enrich mileage program. Plus, no "first come first serve" quota for Plaza Premium Lounge access.
